Alberto CAMPLANI
Full Professor of Early Christian Literature at the Department of History Anthropology Religions Art History, Media, and Performing Arts (SARAS). Prof. Camplani is an expert in Syriac and Coptic Christianity. He has had the role of lecturer at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan (on philology and New Testament exegesis, 2016-2019) and at the Istituto Patristico Augustinianum (on Syriac language and literature and Christianity in Alexandria, 1988-2020). He has been appointed as director of the journal “Studi e materiali di storia delle religioni“, founded by Pettazzoni in 1925, for the period 2009-2012. After being member of the editorial board of Adamantius, the journal of the Italian Research Group on Origen and the Alexandrian Tradition, since its foundation in 1994, he has been appointed as its director in 2013 and his task has been renewed until 2025. Member of the International Association for Coptic Studies, he collaborates with the ERC project PAThs on Coptic tradition. His scientific interests are widespread, with a particular focus on ecclesiology and the history of ecclesiastical organizations; he has dedicated numerous publications to the Church of Alexandria and its bishopric; he has also touched on the question of the “transmission of memory” in Late Antiquity.
Jeanne-Nicole MELLON SAINT-LAURENT
Associate Professor at the Department of Theology of Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI), Ph.D. at the Brown University in 2009. Prof. Saint-Laurent is a scholar of Syriac Studies and Early Christianity, with special interests in hagiography and sacred narrative. She is the co-editor of The Gateway to the Syriac Saints: a two-volume digital database on Syriac Saints (Qadishe: http://syriaca.org/q/index.html) and their Lives (Bibliotheca Hagiographica Syriac Electronica (http://syriaca.org/bhse/index.html ), and of the Syriaca.org portal for Syriac Studies. She is also the General Editor of Hugoye: Journal of Syriac Studies.
Among her publications: Missionary Stories and the Formation of the Syriac Churches (Berkeley: University of California Press, 2015); The History of Mar Behnam and Sarah: Martyrdom and Monasticism in Medieval Iraq(Piscataway: Gorgias Press, 2018), co-authored with Kyle R. Smith.
Muriel DEBIÉ
Professor of Eastern Christian Studies at the EPHE, where she also teaches Syriac language. Specialized in Historiography, Codicology; she is one of the creators of the E-Ktobe database of Syriac manuscripts. She directs the Études Syriaques series, for Geuthner.
